Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a qualified Nursing Assistant to join our team in New York. You will support patients with activities of daily living, orient families, and assist with rounds while providing essential nursing support under RN supervision.

The role requires good verbal and written communication, ability to handle crises, and adherence to hospital policies. Training including CPI and BLS is provided with ongoing educational requirements.

Qualifications

• Nurse Aide in good standing with State Registry and BLS certification.
• Annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications (e.g. DNV, DHS, CARF or others) are maintained.
• Completion of CPI's Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist, monitor and maintain patient activities of daily living.
• Orient patients and families to unit and hospital.
• Escort patients to tests, meals, activities; supervise and manage behaviors.
• Perform vital signs on patients.
• Document observations in medical records per policy.
• Defuse and report crisis situations; follow safety procedures.
• Maintain safe, therapeutic environment; assist with groups and setting limits.
• Perform patient rounds and document appropriately.
