Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patients with daily living activities, orientation to units, and safe movement within the hospital. You will assist with vital signs, communicate changes to the RN, and help maintain a calm, therapeutic environment throughout shifts.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong verbal and written communication, positive interpersonal skills, and the ability to document observations accurately while following hospital policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited Nursing Assistant program.
• Maintains Nurse Aide in good standing and BLS certification.
• Completes hospital-based annual training requirements (DNV/DHS/CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Assists, monitors and/or maintains patient activities of daily living (ADL's).
• Orients patient and family to the unit and hospital.
• Escorts patients to tests, meals and activities and manages behavior as required.
• Performs vital signs on patients.
• Receives direction from the RN and documents observations in medical records.
• Defuses and reports crisis situations and intervenes as needed.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment and supports group activities.
• Performs patient rounding at designated intervals and documents appropriately.
