Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Six months or more experience working with the specific population of the facility preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the wellbeing of clients and provides a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment.
• Maintains a constant awareness and supervision of clients.
• Conducts safety checks, ensuring supervision at intervals in line with guidelines.
• Checks clients for contraband and manages valuables and belongings.
• Interacts with clients, observes behaviors, and communicates significant observations to supervisor.
• Promotes interest in recreational activities.
• Engages with clients in activities designed to achieve treatment goals.
• Facilitates client educational-rehabilitative groups covering social skills, coping skills, anger management and independent living skills.
• Takes and records vital signs and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Documents in client records timely, accurately, and appropriately.
• Applies de-escalation techniques to manage emotions and participation in treatment.
• Assists with unit cleaning, admits/discharge processes, filing, etc.
• Initiates incident reports and coordinates transportation when needed.
• Provides shift-to-shift verbal reports and introductions for new clients.
• Monitors client needs and goals, encouraging participation in activities.
• assists with activity planning and equipment setup for recreational activities.
• Enforces safety rules and adapts activities for groups.
• Helps maintain departmental resources and equipment.

Education
