Job summary

Anabranch Recovery Center in Terre Haute, Indiana is seeking a Behavioral Health Associate (BHA). You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, monitoring client behaviors, providing care, and assisting in data collection.

The role emphasizes safety, crisis response, and supportive patient engagement to aid recovery. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for 6 months of BHA experience and background in behavioral health or addiction recovery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months experience as a BHA preferred.
• Prior experience working with the population served (psychiatric, behavioral health, or addiction recovery) required.
• Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, dual diagnoses, and treatment modalities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety & wellbeing: ensure constant awareness and supervision of clients and conduct safety checks.
• Support recovery goals: engage with clients in meaningful activities toward treatment goals.
• Lead therapeutic groups: facilitate educational and rehabilitative groups on coping skills, social skills, anger management, and independent living skills.
• Be a trusted guide: welcome new clients, introduce them to programs and peers, and encourage participation in activities.
• Provide hands-on support: assist with admissions, discharges, transportation, daily living needs, and recreational activities while maintaining safety and structure.
• Communicate & document: observe client behavior, report changes, document records, and provide shift reports for continuity of care.
• De-escalate with care: apply de-escalation techniques in a respectful, professional manner.
• Enhance client experience: propose activity ideas, plan programs, and set up resources for recreation.
