Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group in Long Beach, CA seeks a Behavioral Health Security Guard to protect clients and staff within a 24/7 urgent care setting. The role emphasizes safety, access control, and proactive monitoring in a behavioral health environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service while maintaining a safe environment for clients, visitors, staff and physicians.
• Screen incoming clients/visitors for contraband and inventory client property; monitor surveillance equipment.
• Control access to the center, answer/direct incoming clients, conduct security checks, and respond to fires or emergencies.

What you bring to SBHG (Qualifications)

• Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience required OR BA degree in a related mental health field.
• Relevant [field] experience refers to experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and/or adults in an inpatient or outpatient setting, hospital setting, or setting where safety and security were the primary focus.
• License or Certification Valid California Driver's License Clear DMV printout preferred
• Valid CPR/BLS certification OR commitment to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
• Valid Security Guard Registration with California BSIS (Bureau of Security and Investigative Services) OR commitment to register as a Security Guard with California BSIS within 90 days of employment required.

How you will make a difference (Job Overview)

The Safety Specialist is responsible for providing a high level of customer service through maintaining a safe environment for all clients, visitors, staff and physicians. This care is provided through direct and indirect physical and verbal interactions with clients, modeling appropriate behaviors for clients, and monitoring daily client activities. She/he screens incoming clients/visitors for contraband and inventories all client property as well as monitoring surveillance equipment. The Safety Specialist controls access to the center, answers/directs incoming clients, conducts physical security checks of the center grounds, and responds to fires and/or emergencies at the center. Maintains vigilance over the general milieu within the facility to facilitate quality client care, optimum facility operations and preserve the safety of all therein.

Division/Program Overview

• Facility & Setting: 24/7 walk-in outpatient urgent care
• Clinical Services Rapid mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, and medication support
• Length of Stay: Short-term stabilization (up to 24 hours)
• Population Served: Serves up to 12 adults (18 + ) and 6 adolescents (ages 13-17)
