Job summary

Community First Medical Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Safety/Security Officer for its new Behavioral Health Unit. The role involves patrolling the unit, assisting staff, escorting visitors, and ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

The Officer may be assigned supervisory duties as the Officer In Charge (O.I.C.) at the Director's discretion, with duties including documentation, responding to calls, and coordinating security coverage.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited program is required.
• CPR certification is expected.
• Superior interpersonal skills and teamwork are essential for this role.
• CPR and CPI Card are preferred qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Make rounds inside and outside assigned areas as scheduled.
• Assist security personnel, hospital employees, and escort visitors.
• Observe and document policy non-conformances.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately.
• Handle confidential information discreetly.
• Respond to calls from nursing and other departments promptly.
• Assist with patient transportation in wheelchairs or with assistive devices.
• Receive and release patient valuables and lost and found items as needed.
• Provide coverage for shift shortages as required.

Behavioral Health Safety/Security Officer

New Behavioral Health Unit

Shift Available:

PM: 3:00 PM - 11 PM

The Safety/Security Officer performs activities necessary to the provision of a safe and secure environment for employees, patients, and visitors of the Behavioral Health Unit and to protect the assets of Community First. At the discretion of the Director, an Officer may also be assigned to perform supervisory duties as the Officer In Charge (O.I.C.).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Makes rounds, inside and outside of assigned areas as scheduled.
• 2. Provides assistance to other security personnel, hospital employees, and escorts visitors.
• 3. Observes and documents the non-conformance of policies and procedures.
• 4. Accurately completes all paperwork as required
• 5. Demonstrates discretion in handling confidential information.
• 6. Responds to calls from nursing and other hospital departments in a timely manner.
• 7. Transports patients in wheelchairs or those using assistive devices.
• 8. Accepts and releases patient’s valuables and lost and found items (per policy) as needed.
• 9. Responds to requests for additional manpower to cover shift shortages.
