Job summary

Hospital for Special Care seeks a Registered Nurse Behavioral Health Float to provide high-quality care across Neurobehavioral and Autism Units and other medical units. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with the treatment team.

The role requires nursing licensure in CT, clinical competence, and Safety-Care training; CPR is preferred. Expect a dynamic, team-focused environment with opportunities for professional growth and specialization.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited school of nursing program.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Demonstrated competence in the clinical setting.
• Valid driver’s license (NBU only).
• Safety-Care training is required within the orientation period.
• Preferred: CPR within 3 months of employment.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Preferred: Experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, autism services, or related settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments within scope of practice.
• Plan, coordinate, and evaluate a goal-directed plan of care.
• Coordinate patient activities with the treatment team for admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Administer medications according to policies and document administration.
• Serve as charge nurse after orientation and participate in interdisciplinary care.
• Document thoroughly and timely, and participate in ongoing professional development.
