Job summary

Rosecrance is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist to join our behavioral health outpatient team in Kankakee, IL. This full-time, onsite role focuses on delivering recovery-focused services to clients and families in alignment with our mission of hope and recovery.

You’ll work 40 hours weekly, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with compensation based on education and credentials and opportunities for shift differentials and certifications. Comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; completion of Peer Recovery Training Program.
• Understanding of emotional, psychological and practical aspects of mental health.
• Ability to coordinate and present lectures for clients, parents, and community resources.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license and ability to meet agency insurance requirements.
• Must have own transportation.
• Belief in the mission and vision of Rosecrance.

Responsibilities

• Work hours prescribed and any additional hours deemed necessary for the responsibilities assigned.
• Provide appropriate behavioral interventions and advocacy for individuals with substance use disorders using trauma-informed practices, including facilitation of support.
• Provide support services for individuals receiving harm reduction services, including screening, referral, linkage to care, and warm hand-offs to other service providers.
• Assist with trainings and distribution of opioid overdose reversal.
• Have a thorough understanding of community resources and Rosecrance full array of programs and services.
• Participate in statewide events/summits/trainings/activities that support the education and development of consumer provider services.
• Attend all scheduled meetings of staff, team meetings or appropriate committee meetings as designated.
• Serve as a member of the assigned team and participate in all team meetings and activities.
• Exercise confidentiality in keeping with the professional code of conduct and within the framework of the law.
• Facilitate transportation of clients to Rosecrance buildings or hospitals as needed.
• Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to every customer.
• Serve as a role model and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing the agency.
• Assume other related responsibilities as delegated by management.
