Job summary

The Brown County Health Department is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support in an outpatient behavioral health setting. Responsibilities include rooming patients, recording vitals, assisting with evaluations, and preparing for telehealth.

You will manage scheduling and follow-ups, handle phone inquiries, document in the EHR, coordinate referrals and prior authorizations, maintain exam rooms, and ensure equipment is functional while upholding confidentiality

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Knowledge of basic pharmacology, psychopharmacology actions, side effects, and contraindications.
• Ability to take vital signs, draw blood, and perform EKGs.
• Ability to manage confidential information and coordinate referrals.

Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients promptly and respectfully.
• Measure and record vital signs, weight, and height.
• Assist providers during psychiatric evaluations.
• Manage scheduling, follow-ups, and patient communications.
• Update EHR charts and scan/upload documents.
• Prepare patients for telehealth and maintain exam rooms.
