Job summary

BJC Behavioral Health is seeking a Part-time Medical Assistant to support clinicians in an outpatient setting. The MA will prepare exam rooms, collect patient information, perform basic clinical tasks, and assist with triage and documentation under supervision.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and CPR certification. No prior experience is required, and duties may include crossing between North or South County offices as needed.

• Could float to North or South County Offices
• NO CALL, NO WEEKENDS, NO HOLIDAYS

Overview

BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 seriously mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system.

Role Purpose

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides medical assistance under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. This position performs select duties for the promotion of health in the care of patients and delivers care according to practice protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.

Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.

Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKGs), point-of-care testing and injections.

Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to provider with correct medical terminology.
