Job summary

Family Care Center is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant for Tucson, AZ. The role involves direct patient care under physician supervision, rooming patients, taking vital signs, and coordinating care with providers and staff.

Responsibilities include documenting medical histories, measuring vitals, and handling prescriptions and referrals as directed. Experience with EMR, 1 year preferred, and CMA/RMA or BLS is a plus. Location: Tucson Clinic, with a patient-centered, supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal medical assistant training program.
• RMA or CMA certification is preferred; BLS certification is a plus.
• At least 1 year of medical assistant experience is preferred; EMR experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and document chief complaints, allergies, medications, and pertinent medical information.
• Measure vital signs and update the patient’s chart.
• Communicate with patients as instructed by the physician or nurse practitioner.
• Provide prescribed medications and document appropriately.
• Retrieve and upload related reports and labs into the patient’s record before appointments.
• Communicate abnormal lab results to patients under supervision.
• Triages portal and phone messages from patients and staff and coordinates with physicians.
• Document any reactions to medications in the patient’s chart.
• Maintain logs and safety checks (e.g., fridge temps, medications, oxygen).
• Schedule or reschedule follow-up appointments and ensure correct authorizations.
• Monitor patients during telemedicine and report notable findings to the provider.
• Perform injections as needed.
