Job summary

Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, KS is seeking a Behavioral Health Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for full-time night shifts in an inpatient unit. You will provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients with acute mental health needs, working with RNs and an interdisciplinary team to promote safety, stabilization, and recovery.

Key responsibilities include medication administration, patient monitoring, and crisis intervention.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• IV certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute mental and behavioral health needs in an inpatient setting.
• Observe, monitor, and document patient behavior, mental status, and safety risks.
• Administer medications as ordered and monitor for side effects.
• Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation to promote unit safety.
• Support admissions, discharges, and transfers, including patient education.
• Collaborate with RNs, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation per policy and regulations.
