Job summary

Mercy is seeking an Intake Specialist to serve as a key connection point for individuals and families seeking behavioral health and substance use services. You will conduct screenings, coordinate referrals and admissions, verify insurance, provide crisis support, and connect patients with treatment options and community resources.

You will help ensure timely access to care while upholding Mercy's mission and standards in a compassionate hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of behavioral health experience.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct behavioral health and substance use screenings for patients in hospital settings.
• Coordinate referrals, admissions, and transfers with physicians and care teams.
• Verify insurance information and assist with pre-certification processes.
• Provide crisis support and connect patients with appropriate levels of care and community resources.
• Document patient information and referral outcomes in EMR and Access Center database.
