Job summary

Kingman Regional Medical Center seeks a Behavioral Health Counselor to provide evidence‑based services for pediatric and adolescent patients within an integrated care model. Qualifications

We’re seeking a Behavioral Health Counselor to be a vital part of our integrated care team, making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients. The ideal candidate will have experience providing evidence‑based behavioral health services to pediatric and adolescent patients.

Position Purpose

Provides evidence‑based interventions for pediatric and adolescent patients within the program. In collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Counselor works collaboratively with the patient’s care team to allow for timely and quality care for mental health and substance use disorders. Position is FLSA exempt.

Key Responsibilities

• Consults, clinicians, and mentors in delivery and evaluation of behavioral health care services within the behavioral integration model of care.
• Provides care to other local KRMC locations as needed.
• Performs appropriate assessment and screening for patients referred to the Behavioral Health program.
• Utilizes the DSM to identify diagnoses and format treatment plans aligned with patient‑centered goals.
• Provides motivational interviewing, brief intervention therapy, supportive therapy and counseling, and other modalities as allowed by licensure.
• Collaborates with all members of the patient’s treatment team, including written reports, phone consultations, and updates.
• Assists in developing care plans, discharge plans, and arranging support and referrals through collaboration with internal staff, providers, and community organizations.
• Completes timely and appropriate documentation within the EMR system, including clinical notes, registry, and collaborative care notes per institution and state requirements.
• Participates in program updates, staff education, and professional growth activities.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree in the Behavioral Health field (Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Counselor, Substance Abuse Counselor).
• Certifications: BLS certified through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Licensure:
  • Licensed by the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
  • DPS Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Current and valid U.S. driver’s license.

Work Requirements

Will require local travel to other KRMC practices and facilities within the local area as needed. Potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other workplace hazards. Moderate walking, standing, sitting, and computer use throughout the workday. Proficiency with EMR systems, Microsoft applications, and email.
