Job summary

Prime Healthcare in Kansas City, MO seeks a Behavioral Health CNA for 12-hour day shifts (7:00am–7:00pm). The role supports patients with daily activities, monitors behaviors, and helps de-escalate situations to maintain a safe unit.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report changes in behavior, mood, or physical condition to nurses or doctors; observe for agitation, self-harm, or aggression.
• Use de-escalation techniques to calm distressed or agitated patients and help maintain a safe environment.
• Accurately document behavior, interventions, and vital signs; communicate with the care team.
• Encourage participation in group activities or therapy sessions; provide emotional support and build trust with patients.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining patient rooms; ensure equipment and supplies are stocked.

Location: St Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO

We are seeking a Behavioral Health CNA, also referred to as a Psychiatric Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Mental Health CNA. A Behavioral Health CNA or Mental Health CNA provides care for patients with mental health or behavioral challenges by assisting with daily activities, monitoring behaviors, and promoting a safe, supportive environment. They collaborate with the healthcare team to offer emotional support, identify changes in patient condition, and assist in de-escalating potentially critical situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities: bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and ambulation
