Job summary

Western North Carolina Community Health Services is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinical Assistant at McDowell Health Center in Marion, NC to support the Behavioral Health team by assisting the Psychiatric Advanced Practice Clinician and clinicians.

The role requires multitasking ability, excellent written and verbal communication, and experience in medical assisting and clerical work; high school diploma; CMA and BLS certifications; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of Medical Assistant experience in outpatient care.
• Experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record (OCHIN Epic preferred).
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Psychiatric Advanced Practice Clinician and behavioral health clinicians.
• Prepare and document patient care in the electronic health record.
• Multitask and manage clerical duties to support the BH team.
• Communicate with patients from diverse backgrounds with sensitivity and compassion.

As a Behavioral Health Clinical Assistant, you will be a supportive and integral member of the Behavioral Health (BH) department by assisting the Psychiatric Advanced Practice Clinician (APC)and completing tasks for the behavioral health clinicians.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping others, flexible, and a positive team player. This position requires an individual who can multitask, has strong written and verbal communication,excellent organizational skills, and experience in medical assisting and clerical work.Must be able to communicate with people of various diverse backgrounds, ensuring all patients are treated in a sensitive and compassionate way.

The position is based at our McDowell Health Center, 136 Creekview Court, Marion, NC 28752

Experience:

• At least one year of experience as Medical Assistant in an outpatient health care setting
• Experience in a behavioral health and/or integrated care setting
• Experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record. OCHIN Epic experience preferred

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required

Certification(s)/Licensure:

• Certified Medical Assistant, required
• Basic Life Support Certificate, required
