Job summary

OhioGuidestone is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to provide case management for children and families with mental health and substance use diagnoses. Services may be delivered via telehealth, outpatient offices, or community settings.

Under supervision, you will monitor symptoms, coordinate resources, and contribute to individualized treatment plans within a multidisciplinary team. A valid Ohio driver’s license and pre-employment screenings are required.

Qualifications

• Three years relevant experience and able to demonstrate competencies in basic behavioral health skills.
• Understanding of human behavior, mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and impact on functioning and behavior.
• Ability to engage clients therapeutically and understand recovery/resiliency.
• Understanding of the mental health system; de-escalation techniques.
• Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emotional and mental dysfunctions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate values and guiding principles with high standards of excellence and ethics.
• Monitor client symptoms and treatment response; communicate with treatment team.
• Develop and maintain service relationships with client, family, and caregivers.
• Coordinate community resources to ensure continuity of care; advocate for client.
• Provide crisis intervention consultation during emergencies for coordination and stabilization.
• Facilitate appointments to address physical, mental health, and substance use needs.
• Review diagnostic evaluations to aid in treatment planning.
• Attend agency/ team/clinical meetings and trainings.
• Maintain client information, reports, and documentation; respond to emails/phone calls.
