Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent approved by a state education department.
• Completion of NYC Health + Hospitals restraints and seclusion training before performing such work.
• Completion of NYC Health + Hospitals vital signs and grooming training within 90 days of appointment.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Observe patient condition and report to team leader; provide basic nursing care.
• Assist in orientation for new patients and gather intake information.
• Support daily living activities and contribute to a therapeutic ward environment.
• Assist with therapeutic activities for psychiatric patients and encourage participation.
• Assist with personal hygiene, feeding, and related tasks.
• Escort patients as directed within and outside the health care setting.
• Take vital signs and enter data into the EMR; perform finger sticks.
• Change linens and keep ward and storage areas neat and orderly.
• Disinfect personal items when required.
• May perform Nurse Aide duties as assigned.
