Job summary

Elmhurst Hospital Center, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, is seeking a Nurse Aide to support behavioral health patients under nurse supervision. You will perform basic nursing tasks, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a therapeutic ward environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and completion of NYC Health + Hospitals training in restraints and seclusion, vital signs, and grooming within 90 days of appointment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of NYC Health + Hospitals training in restraints and seclusion.
• Successful completion of NYC Health + Hospitals training in vital signs and grooming within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Observes patient’s physical condition and reports to nurse, providing basic nursing care for acutely ill or emotionally distressed patients.
• Assists in planning and implementing daily living activities and therapeutic ward environment.
• Gathers intake information and social histories to augment case understanding.
• Assists with personal hygiene, meal service, and essential daily activities.
• May escort patients within and outside the health care setting as directed by professional staff.
