Job summary

Grand Peaks, a community health center, is seeking a dependable Billing Specialist to support insurance claims processing, payment posting, and account follow-up, with a primary focus on behavioral health billing and occasional medical billing tasks.

The role requires accuracy, strong organizational skills, and professional communication with patients, staff, and insurers. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and a daytime Monday–Friday schedule, with no weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in healthcare and/or billing; behavioral health/medical billing experience preferred.
• Proficiency with computers and common office equipment, including multi-line telephone systems.
• Ability to follow instructions, communicate clearly and professionally.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage work accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, submit, and follow up on insurance claims, including correcting and resubmitting denied or aging claims.
• Review patient and insurance accounts, monitor outstanding balances and claims, and follow up as needed.
• Post insurance and patient payments and maintain accurate account records.
• Prepare and send patient statements and respond to billing questions from patients, staff, and insurance companies.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, claim issues, and account balances.
• Stay current with changes in billing requirements, payer guidelines, and industry practices and adapt as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and educational opportunities.
