Job summary

Pathways to Life, Inc. is seeking an Authorization Assistant to support behavioral health services in our Nags Head office.

The role focuses on accurate authorization and reauthorization submissions, reviewing clinical documentation, and maintaining electronic records with strict confidentiality. You will work under the Authorization Specialist, ensure timely submissions, and coordinate with clinicians and team leads to resolve missing information, while adhering to NC DHHS and MCO requirements

Qualifications

• Administrative experience in behavioral health or healthcare preferred.
• Familiarity with medical records and insurance verification.
• Experience with electronic health record systems (Pangea Health a plus).
• Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
• Strong data-entry and recordkeeping abilities.

Responsibilities

• Review and log authorization/reauthorization packages.
• Verify complete documentation and compliance with requirements.
• Communicate missing information to clinicians and team leads.
• Submit packages to Authorization Specialist via MCO portals.
• Maintain electronic health records and tracking spreadsheets.
• Support audits and quality-improvement activities.
• Provide status updates to leadership.
