Opening in Fall 2025, Capitol Park Mental Health Hospital, a 144-bed facility located at the former Bethesda Hospital site, will offer inpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization mental health treatments.

Behavioral Health Associates (BHAs) are responsible for delivering personal care services under clinical or nursing supervision. They must demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude, promptly address patient needs and complaints, and prioritize patient safety.

Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate urgency regarding patient safety and deliver excellent customer service.
  2. Ensure patient well-being and maintain a positive, supportive, and structured environment.
  3. Conduct safety checks and supervise patients at 15-minute intervals or as per individualized guidelines.
  4. Accurately document clinical information in patient records.
  5. Assist in creating a safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  6. Interact with patients, observe behaviors, and communicate significant observations to nursing staff.
  7. Assist patients with daily activities such as toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, and nutrition.
  8. Record vital signs, height, and weight as assigned.
  9. Facilitate educational and rehabilitative groups on topics like social skills, coping, anger management, and independent living.
  10. Engage patients in activities aligned with their treatment goals.
  11. Complete documentation and follow-up on incidents and events.
  12. Transport patients or coordinate transportation as needed.
  13. Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude at all times, prioritizing patient safety and satisfaction.

Other Functions:

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six months or more experience working with the facility's specific patient population preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training provided upon hire).
  • First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.
