Job summary

Peak Behavioral Health in Santa Teresa, NM is seeking a PRN Intake Coordinator to manage admissions, triage calls, pre-registration, and insurance verification, serving as the single entry point for inpatient admissions.

You will coordinate with the business office, nursing, and clinical staff to ensure timely admissions, communicate with referral sources and families, and maintain all admissions documentation; a high school diploma and healthcare admissions experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's preferred.
• 1+ years healthcare admissions experience; mental health/substance use preferred.
• Experience in patient assessment, referral, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Outstanding interpersonal, interviewing, and assessment skills; strong telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-admission screenings and schedule assessments.
• Provide coverage for the Call Center and verify insurance during high volume.
• Collaborate with business office, nursing, clinical staff and external parties for timely admission.
• Refer inquiries to other agencies when appropriate.
• Provide information and referrals for internal and external customers.
• Present clinical information to medical staff for intake approval.
• Provide crisis intervention if needed.
• Verify insurance at intake and document admissions process.
• Maintain communications with referral sources and educate about services.
• Provide clerical support for admissions and audit patient charts.
