Job summary

Peak Behavioral Health in Santa Teresa, NM is seeking an Intake Coordinator to serve as the single entry point for admissions, handling pre-registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and financial counseling. You will collaborate with nursing, business office, and referrals, coordinate with external providers, and maintain complete admission documentation.

This on-site role requires strong communication, crisis intervention skills, CPR certification, and a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field preferred.
• One or more years' experience in healthcare admissions required.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-admission screenings and scheduling assessments.
• Provides coverage for Call Center duties, answers phones, verifies insurance and assists with pre-certifications during high volume.
• Coordinates with business office, nursing, clinical staff and external parties for timely admissions.
• Refers inquiries to agencies and community resources when not appropriate for facility admission.
• Provides information and referrals for internal and external customers.
• Presents clinical information to medical staff for intake approval.
• Maintains admissions documentation and ongoing communication with referrals.
• Provides crisis intervention as needed.
• Provides clerical support: admissions folders, chart auditing, monitoring waiting area.
