Job summary

Acadia Healthcare in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking an Admissions Counselor to manage admissions, clinical intake assessments, and utilization review to ensure appropriate level of care.

The role requires a bachelor's in a social services field (master's preferred) and experience in behavioral health. A $10K sign-on bonus is offered for eligible candidates, with full-time hours 11am–11pm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a social services field required (if state allows).
• Master's degree in a social services field (psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN preferred.
• One or more years’ experience in mental/behavioral health working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries about the facility within facility policy timeframes.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Perform benefit eligibility to ensure patient benefits are active at admission and communicate to streams.
• Collaborate with facility medical and psychiatric personnel to ensure recommendations regarding referrals.
• Coordinate admission and transfer from referral sources and between levels of care within the facility.
• Maintain knowledge of milieu management.
• Communicate projected admissions to internal representatives.
• Ensure clinical information from referral sources or patients is received prior to admission.
• Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments and communicate disposition recommendations.
• Prepare and maintain medical record documentation to support payor authorization.
• Complete initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission when possible.
• Admit patient to registration and accounting system; complete forms with patient.
• Demonstrate empathy and professionalism; address complaints and prioritize patient safety.
• Coordinate care for patients not admitted and ensure follow-up referrals.
• Demonstrate urgency regarding patient safety and customer service.
• Conduct safety checks and supervision as required.
