Job summary

Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking an Activity Assistant to support clinical and administrative operations within the department. You will lead activity groups, document patient responses, and coordinate with the Activity Therapist to maximize therapeutic outcomes.

This role emphasizes teamwork, patient engagement, and adherence to treatment plans. The position supports a Monday–Friday 8am–5pm schedule (PRN Days) with benefits and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR and De-escalation certification required or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides activity groups for patients.
• Documents patient responses to groups in daily/weekly progress notes.
• Provides and documents appropriate alternate interventions when patients miss groups.
• Collaborates with the Activity Therapist to ensure effective treatment planning and patient benefit.
• Maintains communication with the Activity Therapist when patient responses vary from expected treatments.

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Bachelor's degree in recreational therapy or equivalent preferred
