Job summary

Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (SRBHH) is seeking a Behavioral Health Aide to assist with activity planning for geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients. You will help run arts, outdoor, and movement activities and ensure participant safety during programs.

Under supervision of the Adjunctive Therapist, you will implement therapy activities, support group sessions, coordinate community resources for therapy programs, and maintain documentation and inventory.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness or related field preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent work experience, in the field of social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or counseling.
• Certified/on track to be certified in recreational therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, art/music/drama therapy.
• Current CPR certification required, or obtained within initial orientation period
• Verbal de-escalation and physical intervention program as approved by the CNO
• Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment
• Health care industry preferred.
• English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Implements activity therapy plans and activities in conjunction with treatment goals.
• Assist therapist in group sessions using mediums such as art therapy, exercise, games or leisure activities
• Assist in planning and preparing activities that promote creativity, wellness, and mental health stability
• Completes draft documentation and progress notes on time and individualized per patient and sends to the therapist for completion and signature
• Assists the therapists in maintaining inventory and coordinating community resources for therapy programs
• Performs related duties, as requested; upholds ethics and customer service standards
