Job summary

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking an Access Screener and Coordinator to serve as the initial contact for individuals seeking behavioral health services. This role connects community members with care by screening, coordinating referrals, and guiding benefits/enrollment processes.

The position supports timely access to services, helps ensure guidance at points of entry into care, and requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social services, or related field.
• Entry level; no prior related work experience required.
• Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration required.

Responsibilities

• Triage and screen service requests in person and by phone; refer emergent cases to crisis services or de-escalate as needed.
• Use clinical judgment and de-escalation techniques with individuals in distress.
• Provide information and referrals based on KMHS programs and community resources.
• Become certified as a Navigator to assist clients in applying for Medicaid (Apple Health).
• Guide clients through DSHS and Washington Health Benefit Exchange applications.
• Enter and manage data in the electronic medical record and track referrals and outcomes.
