Job summary

LEARN Academy, a certified K–12 private day school in Redwood City, CA, is seeking staff to provide direct instructional support, monitor progress, and maintain records for students with autism and other learning challenges. Training is available; BCBA certification opportunities and substitute teaching pathways are mentioned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
• 1-2 years’ experience working with children in a special needs education setting preferred.
• Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisors.
• Experience using Crisis Management Interventions and therapeutic holds.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students and monitor ability to follow directions and behavior.
• Collect data regarding student progress as directed by licensed staff.
• Assist staff in maintaining charts and other records related to student progress.
• Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide opportunities to practice.
• Assist student in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under supervision.
• Implement district-approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint (CPI).
• Perform other related duties as assigned by administration.
