Job summary

LEARN Academy in Redwood City, CA, is seeking a dedicated instructional assistant to support students with autism and special needs within a committed educational team.

You will provide direct instructional support to individuals or small groups, collect data on progress, and help maintain charts and records under licensed staff. Training and mentorship are available, including paths toward BCBA certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
• 1-2 years’ experience working with children in a special needs education setting preferred but not required.
• Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisors.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining a professional and clinical perspective with student behaviors.
• Demonstrated experience using physical ability to safely perform Crisis Management Interventions and holds.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups and monitor ability to follow directions and behavior.
• Collect data regarding student progress as directed by licensed staff.
• Assist staff in maintaining charts and other records related to student progress.
• Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide opportunities to practice.
• Assist students in community, recreation, school and leisure activities under licensed staff.
• Implement district-approved de-escalation techniques and safe physical restraint as trained (CPI).
• Perform other related duties as assigned by administration.
