Job summary

Bridges Public Charter School in Washington, DC, is seeking a Behavior Technician to support student development and classroom behavior management. You will work under the Dean of Student Culture to implement interventions, document progress, and collaborate with the Wellness team to maintain a safe learning environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and an RBT is preferred. It emphasizes adherence to professional standards, teamwork, and ongoing learning within a dynamic PK-5 school

  • Registered Behavior Technician certificate (RBT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate student needs and provide interventions to redirect behavior.
  • Document data as instructed by the Dean of Student Culture.
  • Implement behavioral programs and interventions for positive change.
  • Assess crises and de-escalate using conflict resolution techniques.
  • Write clear, detailed observations.
  • Reinforce appropriate behaviors and redirect negative ones.
  • Provide values clarification including rules and consequences.
  • Implement logical consequences for misbehavior.
  • With training, restrain students if necessary for safety.
  • Collaborate with Wellness team and teachers on intervention plans.
  • Inform parents/guardians about student actions as needed.
  • Ensure consistency of behavioral standards with student contacts.
  • Consult with teachers and leaders on prior behavior concerns.
  • Monitor behavior changes and assist with academics during the day.
  • Attend IEP and progress meetings when requested.
  • Support school emergency procedures as required.
  • Attend safety and behavior management trainings as requested.
