Job summary

Gersh Autism is seeking a compassionate Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) — CNA Certified — to support students with autism in a West Hempstead, NY school setting. You will work closely with teachers to implement IEPs and behavior plans, providing one-on-one and small group support.

Responsibilities include data collection, collaboration with the behavior team, and participation in daily training with behavior analysts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in education, psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Must have CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, encouraging academic, social, and behavioral growth.
• Help students with daily tasks, including communication, social interaction, and self-management skills.
• Prepare students and materials for activities and transitions.
• Support students during classroom activities, field trips, and school events.
• Implement strategies from behavior intervention plans to promote self-regulation.
• Collect and document data on student performance, behavior, and progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with the teaching team and behavioral specialists to create a positive learning environment.
• Communicate progress and challenges with teachers and staff.
• Participate in daily training sessions with behavioral analysts.
