Job summary

Gersh Autism seeks a compassionate Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in a year-round Issaquah classroom. You will assist with IEPs/BIPs, provide one-on-one and small-group support, and help with daily tasks and self-regulation strategies.

This full-time role offers growth through RBT certification and collaboration with a behavior team to create a structured learning environment for students aged 5–21.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• Experience with children, especially those with autism or special needs, is a plus but not required.
• A passion for supporting students with autism and other developmental disabilities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and flexible in various situations.
• Willingness to take a course and complete testing to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within a specified time frame.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, encouraging growth.
• Help students with daily tasks, including communication, social interaction, self-management, and hygiene.
• Prepare students and materials to work and leave for the day with appropriate clothing and devices.
• Support students during classroom activities, field trips, and other school events.
• Implement strategies from behavior intervention plans to promote self-regulation.
