Job summary

MeBe is hiring a Behavior Technician for the Kearny Mesa area in San Diego. You will deliver one-on-one behavioral therapy to young children with autism within home or our Learning Center, following BCBA-designed plans to enhance communication and daily living skills.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, reliability, and teamwork, with training and supervision provided. Part-time shifts available; great fit for motivated individuals seeking growth with MeBe Family.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must obtain RBT/CBT certification within 60 days of employment (MeBe will help you).
• Background check required and ability to work with computers.

Responsibilities

• Teach and nurture behavioral, social, communication, and daily living skills in 1:1 settings in home or MeBe Learning Center.
• Follow treatment plans developed by BCBA to improve communication, self-help, social and play skills.
• Record progress in data collection system Central Reach after each session.
• Clock in/out and submit session notes in accordance with ABA and provider regulations.
• Assist with lunchtime, bathroom breaks, and diaper changes as needed.
• Build positive relationships with families while maintaining professional boundaries.

About What You’ll Work On

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication, mental health and behavioral challenges.

Although autism can be diagnosed at any age, it is described as a “developmental disorder” because symptoms generally appear in the first 2 years of life. People with ASD may face a wide range of issues, which means that there is no single best treatment for ASD. Working closely with a health care provider like MeBe Family is an important part of finding the right combination of treatment and services. (Reference, National Institute of Mental Health)

As a Behavior Technician,

• You’ll teach and nurture behavioral, social, communication, and daily living skills in a 1:1 setting to kiddos with autism in their home or at MeBe’s Learning Center clinic
• You’ll follow treatment plans developed by BCBAs that help increase the kiddo's communication, self‑help, social and play skills.
• You’ll relay info on your kiddos’ progress to BCBAs to keep them informed and assist with BCBA assessments.
• At the end of each session, you’ll accurately record the kiddo’s behavior analysis and progress in our data collection system Central Reach using your work assigned tablet.
• You’ll be responsible for clocking in, submitting your session notes and clocking out to align with strict ABA and Insurance provider regulations.
• You’ll help keep our workplace shipshape, safe, and super organized.
• You’ll help our kiddos with lunch breaks, bathroom breaks and diaper changing.
• You’ll help with projects and tasks as directed by your Site Director and Clinical Supervisors.
• You’ll voice questions, issues and concerns to your supervisors as appropriate and take co‑ownership of treatment planning.
• You’ll help to build positive relationships with families while maintaining professional boundaries.
• You’ll positively contribute to the MeBe Family culture.

Qualifications

• Consistent availability from Monday through Friday. Part-time shifts available.
• Must be at least 18-years-old with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• RBT/ CBT certification preferred. Must obtain RBT/CBT certification within 60 days of employment (MeBe will help you!)
• Prefer a background in child care; teaching, counseling, babysitting.
• Ability to frequently bend, lift (up to 50 lbs), squat, sit, stand, and/or run, (without reasonable accommodations), see with prescription lenses, and hear with hearing aids.
• Previous training in First Aid Certified and CPR is preferred
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to work with computers.
• If residing in CA, AZ, or VA, must obtain CPR/BLS certification before working with clients
• Must have at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent- required. A bachelor’s degree in areas like Pediatrics or Human Development (Biology) is preferred.
