Job summary

The ER9 District in Connecticut is seeking a dedicated Behavior Technician to join our elementary school support team in Redding. This role focuses on providing direct behavioral intervention and supporting students with social-emotional needs in collaboration with teachers and families.

Holders of a current RBT credential, or those pursuing one, and experience with ABA-based strategies are preferred. The position features a stable, full-time schedule and district-wide professional development

Qualifications

• Current RBT credential with BACB; in good standing.
• Experience supporting students with behavioral, developmental, or autism-related needs in a school setting.
• Background checks and fingerprinting completed per Connecticut law.

Summary:

The Behavior Technician is a key member of Redding Elementary School support staff team, dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and emotionally responsive learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Working in collaboration with teachers, school counselors, special educators, related service providers, and families, the Behavior Technician provides direct behavioral intervention and support for students with social-emotional, behavioral, developmental, and autism-related needs. They promote positive student behavior, removes barriers to learning, and supports equitable access to high-quality instruction through emotionally responsive, restorative, and trauma-informed practices.

Principal Responsibilities:

Student Behavioral Support

• Provide individualized andsmall-groupbehavioral support.
• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity.
• Teach replacement behaviors, coping, self-regulation, and social-emotional skills.
• Support students during instruction and unstructured times.
• Promote student independence through gradual fading ofsupports.
• May include toileting

Emotionally Responsive & Restorative Practices

• Use emotionally responsive practices to co-regulate students.
• Facilitate restorative conversations.
• Model trauma-informed interactions.
• Support teachers with restorative classroom practices.

Crisis Prevention & Intervention

• Respond using approved de-escalation strategies.
• Assistwith crisis response and safety planning.
• Document behavioral incidents.
• Participate in post-incidentdebriefings.

Data Collection & Progress Monitoring

• Collect andmaintainbehavioral data.
• Monitor progress toward behavioral goals.
• Participate in MTSS and student support meetings.

Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

• Collaborate with staff and families.
• Provide coaching and modeling for classroom staff.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in professional learning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
• Associate'sorBachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Social Work, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
• Experience supporting students with behavioral, developmental, and/or autism-related needs, preferably in a school setting.
• Experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and collecting behavioral data tomonitorstudent progress.
• Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and evidence-based behavior support strategies.
• Experience implementing emotionally responsive, restorative, and trauma-informed practices preferred.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Safety-Care, or similar de-escalation training preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Successful completion of all required criminal background checks and fingerprintingin accordance withConnecticut law.
