Job summary

Scoot Education is seeking a Behavior Interventionist/Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to support students with intensive behavioral needs in California. You will implement BIPs, provide 1:1 and small-group support, and collaborate with teachers and specialists across settings.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and behavior teams to foster a safe learning environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Work closely with students in high-needs behavioral settings, including 1:1 and small-group support
  • Implement strategies to support students exhibiting intensive or escalated behaviors, including:
  • Elopement
  • Non-verbal or low-communication profiles
  • Support toileting, personal care, and adaptive behavior routines as needed
  • Follow behavior intervention plans (BIPs), safety protocols, and de-escalation frameworks
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and behavior teams
  • Foster a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment
  • Model positive behavior and assist with IEP implementation
What We’re Looking For
  • Passion for supporting students with intensive behavioral and emotional needs
  • An empathetic nature and calm, grounded presence during escalated moments
  • Strong commitment to student safety and structure
  • College credits, Associate’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three professional references, including at least one supervisor
  • State & federal background checks
  • TB risk assessment or test
Qualifications

You may qualify as a Behavior Interventionist (BI) OR Registered Behavior Technician (RBT):

  • Experience supporting individuals with moderate–severe behavior needs
  • At least 1 year experience in a special education, behavior support, ABA, mental health, or classroom setting
  • Valid RBT Certification
  • Experience in ABA therapy and working with students with developmental disabilities
  • At least 1 year experience supporting individuals with significant behavior challenges
