Job summary

Easterseals Florida is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to partner with teachers, families, and school leadership. The role focuses on promoting inclusive practices, developing behavior support strategies, coaching educators, and fostering positive social-emotional development to help all children succeed.

The position involves coaching in classrooms, developing Behavior Support Plans, training staff, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of one year of experience with children who have behavioral challenges.
Knowledge of positive behavior interventions and inclusive educational practices.
Ability to collaborate with teachers, families, administrators, and community partners.
Strong communication skills and ability to prepare reports and documentation.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional materials.
Strong organizational skills with confidential records.

Responsibilities

Observe classrooms and coach teachers on behavior support strategies.
Develop and monitor individualized Behavior Support Plans with stakeholders.
Model behavior intervention techniques and support positive behavior in class.
Monitor student progress and adjust behavior plans as needed.
Support classrooms during routines and transitions with hands-on coaching.
Communicate with families regarding progress and collaborate on strategies.
Conduct staff trainings on positive behavior supports and inclusive practices.
Assist with screenings, interviews, and referrals to internal departments when appropriate.
Ensure compliance with regulations and maintain confidential records.
