Job summary

Easterseals Florida, Inc. in Valrico, FL, is hiring a Behavior Support Specialist to partner with teachers, families, and leadership to support children with behavioral challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children who have behavioral challenges and/or potential disabilities.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior interventions, behavior management strategies, and inclusive educational practices.

Responsibilities

  • Observe classrooms and provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to teachers on behavior support strategies.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and revise individualized Behavior Support Plans in collaboration with teachers, families, specialists, and school leadership.
  • Model behavior intervention techniques and support teachers in promoting positive behavior, self-regulation, communication, and social-emotional growth.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust behavior plans and intervention strategies as needed.
  • Support classrooms during daily routines and transitions by providing hands-on coaching and behavior support.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and collaborate on strategies for success.
  • Conduct staff training on positive behavior supports, inclusive practices, and related topics.
  • Assist with student screenings, employee interviews, and referrals to internal departments or community resources when appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, early learning standards, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain confidential records, monitor communication systems, and support a safe, positive learning environment.

Salary will be $19.00 per hour

Full-time position; 37.5 hours per week (plus insurance and time off benefits)

Work hours will be scheduled between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday

About The Role
The Behavior Support Specialist partners with teachers, families, and school leadership to support children with behavioral challenges and/or potential disabilities.   • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential records.
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments and supporting children\'s social-emotional and developmental growth.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work collaboratively as a team member, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and alignment with Easterseals\' mission, vision, and values.
