POSITION SUMMARY:
The Behavior Program Associate I is responsible for duties aimed at improving the quality of life and mental well-being of dogs in Seattle Humane’s care, and fostering successful lifelong relationships between people and pets. This role supports the behavioral development of dogs both in the shelter and in preparing them for successful adoption. The associate adheres to Seattle Humane’s mission, goals, and philosophy, including LIMA (Least Invasive Minimally Aversive) guidelines.

Physical and Mental Requirements: Must be able to communicate clearly, see, hear, and write legibly. Capable of handling animals up to 50 pounds unaided, and over 50 pounds with assistance. Able to work in various environments, remain focused amidst interruptions, and handle emotionally charged situations. Must exhibit initiative, good time management, and motivation.
Work occurs in office, kennel, and outdoor settings, with potential hazards including chemicals, animal bites, zoonotic diseases, and noise. Must follow safety protocols and use appropriate equipment.
Computer, printer, phone, radio, collection tools, microchip scanner, leashes, collars, harnesses, gloves, and basic office equipment.
40 hours/week, including at least one weekend day, with shifts determined by the Behavior Program Manager.
