Badlands Behavioral Health Clinic in the Dickinson area seeks a Skills Trainer (Behavioral Modification Specialist) to help individuals build daily living and emotional regulation skills in their homes and communities.

You will travel to clients' residences, teaching budgeting, communication, and safety skills as part of an interdisciplinary team, supporting personalized goals and independence.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, education, child development and family science, human services, marriage and family therapy, applied behavioral analysis, speech pathology, therapeutic recreation, occupational therapy, behavioral health, or communication disorders.
  • Or a bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields and two years of work experience in the respective discipline, supervised by a licensed practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to individuals' homes and communities to teach daily living and household skills, communication, emotion regulation, budgeting, health, safety and hygiene skills.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide a tailored support plan for each individual.
  • Engage clients in their home and natural environments, modeling and teaching skills.

Job description

Badlands Behavioral Health Clinic is seeking a Skills Trainer (Behavioral Modification Specialist) in the Dickinson area.

As a Skills Trainer, you will assist individuals where they live to build skills so they can live a quality, independent life.

Every day, you will travel to individuals' homes and communities. There you will teach daily living and household skills, communication, and emotion regulation skills, budgeting skills, as well as health, safety, and hygiene skills. You will be part of an integrated, interdisciplinary team focused on providing the best support plan possible for each individual.

To thrive in this position, you should enjoy teaching and role modeling, be passionate about empowering others, and prefer working with clients in their home and natural environments.

To be considered for the Skills Trainer position, you must have a Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, education, child development and family science, human services, marriage and family therapy, applied behavioral analysis, speech pathology, therapeutic recreation, occupational therapy, behavioral health, or communication disorders.
  • Or a bachelor's degree in one of the above fields and two years of work experience in the respective discipline. The work experience must be in a professional setting and supervised by a licensed practitioner in a related field. ND Medicaid may approve related degrees at its discretion.

This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of the assigned defensive driving course during new hire orientation.

Location

This position provides essential client services face to face and therefore the person in this position needs to be able to travel to meet clients at their location.
