Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Master’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• Certified as a school counselor in Texas, or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of supporting students in self-contained and inclusion services.
• Knowledge of ARD/IEP goal-setting and implementation.
• Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques.
• Ability to work with students with pervasive developmental disabilities.
• Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Three (3) years of experience as a special education teacher, social work, or related field.
• Experience implementing academic instruction/strategies and behavior management.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with administrators and teachers to design and implement BIPs and support staff.
• Monitor effectiveness of behavior intervention plans and recommend changes.
• Conduct FBA and collaborate with staff/parents to teach appropriate behaviors.
• Participate in ARD meetings to meet IEP goals.
• Assist teachers with lesson planning, classroom management, and behavior strategy.
• Develop and maintain techniques for academic and behavioral interventions.
• Provide individual and small group activities to improve social skills.
• Consult with district and outside resources on student needs.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain required records.
