Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking a Behavior Intervention Specialist for Academy of Arts & Technology in Marion, Ohio. The role focuses on addressing conduct and attendance issues, developing behavior intervention plans, and supporting at-risk students within a high-impact charter school network.

You will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families, participate in IEP teams, and monitor progress while maintaining accurate records and contributing to a positive school culture across the campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, health, or related field preferred.
• Intervention Specialist license preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience with at-risk or behaviorally challenged students (teacher, social worker, tutor or mentor).
• Proven ability to build trust and positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to remain composed and perform under changing or stressful conditions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to pass federal, state, and local background checks.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding and respectful attitude toward behavioral needs of students across age groups.
• Provide expertise in Functional Behavior Assessments, function-based interventions, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
• Meet with students needing intervention and develop individualized behavior tracking and intervention programs.
• Serve on IEP Teams and build relationships with students requiring intervention.
• Collaborate with staff on crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors affecting intervention implementation.
• Serve as a consultant to administrators, teachers, and parents on behavior modification.
• Monitor attendance and develop Absence Intervention Plans to improve school-wide attendance.
• Promote school culture through daily practices and collaboration with families and staff.
• Maintain timely records and files in line with school policies.
• Participate in duties such as school events, trainings, morning duty, dismissal duty, and lunch duty.
