Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) works in the Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospital (PHP) levels of care as a clinical support to the treatment teams, providing supportive and direct services to patients.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supports the clinical team in delivering cognitive and other therapeutic services to program patients according to clinical standards of care, under the supervision of the clinical supervisor/director or designee.
- Assists with check-in, check-out, lunch, and transitional activities of patients, including supervising children and adolescents during lunchtime.
- Participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings as requested.
- Collects and documents patient progress data daily to contribute to the overall treatment plan; monitors dietary intake of patients.
- Provides a structured therapeutic milieu to teach, reinforce, and enhance social, educational, personal behavior, and coping skills.
- Manages the milieu environment.
- Implements individualized care plans based on each patient's treatment plan.
- Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
- Supports and influences behavior management plans for all patients and follows through with implementation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Requires strong interpersonal skills for interaction with patients and staff.
- Must be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to teamwork, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments within specified timeframes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Position involves walking, sitting, standing, and moderate lifting (minimum of 20 pounds). Reaching, handling, grasping, and manual dexterity are necessary for operating equipment. Flexibility to stoop, bend, kneel, and move as needed.
- Requires verbal and hearing abilities for interaction; numerical skills for record-keeping and computer operation.
- Requires tact for effective patient interaction; logical thinking and discretion for policy and procedure decisions.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in verbal, written, and auditory forms.
Education/Training Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One to two years' experience in behavioral health or medical field preferred.
- Formal training in managing aggressive patients (NCI) required within 60 days of hire; annual re-certification required.
- American Red Cross Professional Rescue certification required within 30 days of hire; bi-annual re-certification required.
- Attend all mandatory in-services relevant to the position and fulfill educational requirements per licensing and regulatory standards.
Pay Transparency and Benefits:
Compensation ranges from $25.00 to $33.60 per hour. The location operates under a collective bargaining agreement, which determines wage placement. New hires are paid at a scale step; internal hires' wages are aligned with their years of service.
