Job summary

Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy seeks a dedicated Behavior and Academic Support Aide to work day-to-day with general and special education teams. The role supports daily behavior and academic tasks under the teacher's guidance, with opportunities to work as a Transitional Learning Center or Instructional Aide depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in education or related field preferred but not required.
• All applicants must hold a high school Diploma or GED.
• Must be CPI certified or be willing to get certified within 1 year of employment (if applicable).
• Commitment to working with a diverse student and staff population.

Responsibilities

• Maintain collaboration with general and special education teachers to support daily behavior and academic supports and to maximize instructional time.
• Maintain confidentiality of information concerning scholars and families.
• Monitor support for modifications or accommodations for scholars with disabilities.
• Work with scholars individually or in small groups to reinforce content introduced by teachers.
• Assist teachers with instructional and non-instructional tasks.
• Maintain CPI Certification, if applicable.
• Support school-wide needs as assigned by the Head of School (HOS).
• Collect progress monitoring data to support behavior intervention plans and academic interventions.
• Work with scholars in 1:1 and/or small group settings to support behavior and academic needs.
• Support TLC program with daily classroom management and routines.
• Support scholars with transition-related activities (enrichment, general education setting, lunch, recess).
• Support the special education teacher with family communication, as needed.
• When necessary, assist in the use of toilet facilities.
• Participates in TLC clinical team meetings, when appropriate.
• Provides instructional assistance to scholars with IEPs in small groups or whole class settings.
• Models precise and expressive language to communicate expectations and content.
• Supports scholars with assistive technology needs as identified.
