Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas in Derby, KS is seeking a Part-Time Youth Program Assistant to supervise and promote activities before/after school or during summer programs.

You will help develop programs in academic success, arts, life and workforce readiness, and physical education while ensuring safety and positive youth development. The role requires patience, reliability and strong communication with youth and families.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, including group settings.
• Knowledge of youth development and guiding positive behavior.
• Ability to relate to children and communicate clearly.
• Ability to interact with the public, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to design and deliver quality youth programs.
• Flexibility and mobility for supervising groups.
• Ability to organize and supervise in a safe environment.
• Valid driver’s license preferred; background check and fingerprinting required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that supports positive Youth Development Outcomes.
• Promote program participation and engagement among members.
• Provide guidance and model appropriate behavior for youth.
• Maintain age-appropriate discipline to ensure safety and order.
• Demonstrate warmth and a positive approach in interactions.
• Implement and administer programs and activities for members.
• Monitor programs for safety, quality, and appearance of the Club.
• Lead in teamwork and effective communication with peers and members.
• Attend staff and club meetings; participate in trainings as requested.
• Ensure knowledge of safety procedures and emergency responses.
