Job summary

Landon School in Bethesda, MD seeks a part-time Before School/Extended Day Coordinator for grades 3-6. The role runs before school hours: 7:15–8:15 on Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, and 7:15–9:15 on Wed, during a 9-month period. The position reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.

The coordinator will supervise and engage students with reading, light academic work, and age-appropriate activities, while coordinating with teachers and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming morning program.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in an academic/educational environment preferred
• Excellent communication and customer services skills
• Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently

Responsibilities

• Engage students in age-appropriate activities, games, reading, or quiet activities before the school day begins
• Supervise students in the designated program space
• Create a positive environment conducive to academic and social success
• Provide light academic support
• Maintain accurate records of attendance
• Organize, and be familiar with, student emergency contact and allergy information
• Communicate with teachers, division staff, and Auxiliary Programs regarding student needs or concerns.
• Communicate with parents and ensure students are dismissed to the appropriate divisions
• Other duties as assigned

Landon's Auxiliary Programs seeks a Before School/Extended Day Coordinator for their before school program with hours Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 7:15 AM to 8:15 AM and Wednesday: 7:15 AM to 9:15 AM. This program is designed for boys in grades 3-6 and the purpose is to provide a safe, supervised space in which students where welcome to read, work on schoolwork, or play games such as chess, and word puzzles before their school day begins. The position is a part-time, 9-month, nonexempt position that reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.

Responsibilities include:

1. Engage students in age-appropriate activities, games, reading, or quiet activities before the school day begins

2. Supervise students in the designated program space

3. Create a positive environment conducive to academic and social success

4. Provide light academic support

5. Maintain accurate records of attendance

6. Organize, and be familiar with, student emergency contact and allergy information

7. Communicate with teachers, division staff, and Auxiliary Programs regarding student needs or concerns.

8. Communicate with parents and ensure students are dismissed to the appropriate divisions

9. Other duties as assigned
