Job summary

YMCA of the Suncoast is seeking a Before and/or After School Staff for the Citrus School Age Programs in Florida. The role involves supervising groups of children, implementing purposeful activities, and supporting the YMCA's community-building mission.

Shifts are Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, typically 6:15 am–9:00 am and 3:15 pm–6:00 pm. Minimum age 16, with required trainings within 30–12 months of employment. Salary starts at $15.45 per hour with possible incentives.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma, a certificate of completion, a GED or be enrolled in GED classes and complete within two years of employment.
• College degree in a child-related field is preferred.
• CPR/AED, First Aid, Lifeguard and Listen First trainings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a designated group of children to ensure safety.
• Maintain accurate attendance including transitions and bathroom breaks; verify attendance.
• Communicate and document absences, injuries and incidents per procedures.
• Use positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior and document disciplinary actions.
• Nurture children by facilitating purposeful programming that supports academic growth.
• Cultivate relationships with children, parents, volunteers, staff and school personnel to create belonging.
• Create a safe environment by reporting suspicious activity and maintaining a clean facility.
• Educate members about YMCA services and connect them to YMCA programs.
