Job summary

Metro YMCA of the Oranges is seeking a dedicated program assistant to support afterschool activities in a school setting. You will help monitor attendance, ensure child safety, and assist with daily activities such as snack, homework support and transitions.

The role emphasizes strong teamwork, communication with families and adherence to licensing requirements. The position requires a High School Diploma, CPR/First Aid/AED, and 1 year of supervisory experience, with 1–3 years of child care in

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; college credits/degree preferred.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required.
• 1 year supervisory experience.
• 1-3 years working with children in a group setting (Before/Afterschool).
• Ability to communicate with staff, parents and school staff.
• Ability to plan, organize and manage responsibilities effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain attendance records for students and staff.
• Ensure safety and supervise children, including head counts.
• Verify authorized sign-in/out and record times.
• Complete incident reports and health paperwork as needed.
• Lead activities, snack time, homework support and cleanup.
• Promote YMCA programs and events to families.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary environment and report maintenance issues.
• Follow licensing and safety protocols and complete required trainings.
