Job summary

Martha & Mary Kids in Poulsbo, WA is hiring a full-time School Age Teacher for the Before & After School Program. This role features a split shift schedule during the school year (mornings and afternoons) with mid-day free.

You will create a safe, engaging environment, plan weekly lessons, and collaborate with aides to support children’s emotional, physical, intellectual, and social development. The job offers competitive wages and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience working with young children.
• Ability to obtain Food Handler’s Permit, First Aid/CPR and Child Care Basics within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to pass the Washington State DCYF Background Check.
• ECE Requirements: Initial Certificate within 5 years and progress toward Short Certificate within two years.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, engaging, joyful environment where kids can learn, play and grow.
• Interact, connect and encourage children to participate in daily activities.
• Prepare a warm, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Plan weekly curriculum-based lesson plans with your supervisor.
• Provide opportunities for assistants and team members to contribute ideas.
• Help supervise, train, and support staff to build a positive, cohesive team.
• Communicate with families in a friendly, professional manner.
• Observe and document important child behaviors and milestones.
• Model and teach positive behavior-guidance techniques.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Maintain program materials, supplies, and classroom readiness.
