Job summary

The Odom Corporation is seeking a Beer Draft Technician to repair and maintain draft lines on kegs and taps, and to support local events in the Seattle area. You will be the primary service technician for WA State Ferries and major venues.

Based in the Seattle Metro area, the role emphasizes reliable communication, technical aptitude, and a ready attitude for travel and on-site service during events. A valid license and DOT readiness are important assets.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record and proof of insurance.
  • Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and evenings.
  • Interest or experience in the beverage industry a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Repair draft lines by observing the mechanical devices in operation and locating causes of trouble.
  • Dismantle taps and devices to access and replace defective parts.
  • Repair or replace defective parts such as taps, washers, hoses/lines and install special parts as needed.
  • Lubricate and clean parts and start devices to test performance.
  • Keep records on each account of cleaning and repairs and maintain Jockey Boxes.

Job description

This position repairs and maintains draft lines on kegs and attached taps and learns other aspects of being a fully qualified draft technician. The Beer Draft Technician will also work local events to ensure they run smoothly. In addition to general accounts, the Draft Technician is the primary servicer of the WA State Ferries and the various stadiums and large venues. They will primarily be located in the Seattle Metro area. This position reports to the Draft and Event Manager. Additional duties may be added as reasonably necessary by Odom from time to time.

Pay range $23.00 - $27.00 per hour Depending on Experience.

  • Discretion and independent judgment on draft service and events when dealing with customers of Odom.
  • Converses with customers to determine any problems.
  • Part of customer base is large venues to include stadiums and ferry systems requiring excellent communication and service level.
  • Repairs draft lines by observing the mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles taps and devices to gain access to remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts such as taps, washers, hose/lines as necessary. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Keeps records on each account on any cleaning and repairing that has taken place.
  • Maintains Jockey Boxes, including cleaning.
  • Informs supervisor when parts are needed for repairs and other supplies.
  • Perform job duties in a safe manner; considerate to themselves and to others.
  • Execute major and small events the company participates in a manner representative to company values and supplier standards.
Job Requirements
  • No draft tech experience required!
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Interest or experience in the beverage industry a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, proof of insurance (SR-22 is not acceptable), and a reliable means of transportation for getting to and from customer accounts.
  • Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Certification.
  • Must have the visual abilities to ensure proper wiring and repair of the draft line.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and evenings.
  • Willingness to learn and take instruction.

  • Use of pallet jacks and hand carts are required to load and unload products for use in customer locations.

  • Required to regularly stand, walk, lift product floor to waist, shoulder to overhead, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
